The proximity of Surrey to London is a key factor in the county's sustained popularity. Surrey has excellent local through to international transport links:
Road
The London orbital motorway, the M25, runs through the county. Other motorways are the M3 (London to Southampton) and the M23 (London to Crawley, then A23 to Brighton), and the major A-road the A3 (London to Portsmouth).
Rail
Commuter train connections run into London Waterloo (National Rail Enquiries), making Surrey very popular with those who enjoy the benefits of a career in London and a home in the less-crowded suburbs. Eurostar trains to Brussels and Paris leave from London Waterloo International.
Underground There is an London Undergroundstation (Hatton Cross on the Piccadilly Line) near Heathrow Airport. The journey into central London takes around 50 minutes.
Air
Two international airports are easily accessible from Surrey. Heathrow airport, a major international hub, is in neighbouring Hounslow. A second international airport, Gatwick, is to the south of the county in West Sussex and can be reached via the M23 motorway. There is also a small airport, Fairoaks in Chobham (north of Woking).
River
The River Thames, runs into Surrey from Windsor, and then through/near Walton, Shepperton, Weybridge, Chertsey, Staines and on to London.
